This unit aims at giving a brief look at insular medieval manuscripts
Almost all textual information from the middle ages comes from the pages of manuscript codixes, earlier texts surviving only in carved inscriptions.
These precursors to the modern book had to be laboriously written by hand,
most of these were written in monasteries, not before late middle ages were books produced privately.
Books as treasures. Priceless pieces of art, also value of work and material.
